Rail Transport: Poipet-Sisophon Rail Service operational on 04 April 2018 while

Phnom Penh Airport Rail Service to start on 10 April 2018

Passenger Train Service from Poipet (at the Khmer-Thai border) to Sisophon in Banteay Meanchey Province (in North-Western Cambodia) has been put on run test as of Wednesday, April 4th 2018 and passengers will get free access to this train services from April 4 to July 31, 2018. The Poipet-Sisophon rail sector has a length of 48 km with six stations including Poipet, Kob, Sophy, Sala Krahom, Tek Tla, Sisophon with three times a day between the two destinations, from 07:00am to 05:00pm (17:00)”. In the meantime, the Passenger Train Service from Central Phnom Penh Station to Phnom Penh International Airport is scheduled to be in operation from April 10, 2018. The 10-km trip will be covered between 22 and 30 minutes – less time than an average Remork-Tuk Tuk or car ride from the City Center to the Airport, and once operations begin, there will be departure every 25 minutes. The service will be free for the first two-and-a-half months before its transition to a fare-based system, and future fares should be cheaper than a Remork-Tuk Tuk or Taxi.
